OUR UNDERTAKING: ALTAVOZ 17 ODS

06/02/2017

On 25 September 2015, global leaders gathered at a historic United Nations summit meeting and approved the 17 Sustainable Development objectives, which will be of significant weight on the international agenda for the next fifteen years.

Auren, as an organisation committed to our environment and our planet, have decided to undertake a long-term project known as “Altavoz 17 ODS“.

This is an exciting project, the main purpose of which is to disseminate and publicise the content of the objectives established by the UN. Such objectives have been drawn up in order to attain, among other aspects, the eradication of poverty, the protection of the planet and prosperity for all, dealing with issues including education, health, gender equality, energy, industry, climate and ecosystems.

With the propagation of the objectives prepared by the United Nations being the main focus of our project, we wish to undertake small-scale actions which contribute towards achieving the UN 2030 agenda.

We are aware that the challenges raised by the United Nations are complicated and require a single joint effort, but we need to get started and strive as soon as possible towards justice, solidarity with those most in need and the sustainability of a planet we all share. We can not stand by and look away in view of a global situation which could be irreversible in the long term.

For this reason, within our organisation we view Corporate Social Responsibility as an essential pillar. Our aim is for this to play an increasingly significant role in our agendas, and for greater commitment from among our people. We believe that the decisions and actions we take should contribute towards creating an increasingly extensive positive impact on a social, economic and environmental level.

This project, “Altavoz 17 ODS”, requires awareness-raising, commitment and an investment of time and energy which is often missing as a result of daily work. However, we feel that the reward for such effort could be so great on so many levels that we are fully committed to its development and are excited about it being publicised and followed as far as possible.

We thus encourage all people, organisations and institutions to take part in the UN 2030 agenda for sustainable development and to join us in this journey, which will last two to three years, by collaborating in publicising the information we provide on each of the seventeen objectives, and participating in the actions we carry out related thereto.

As Les Brown said: “Shoot for the moon, because even if you miss, you’ll land among the stars”.
